Sabino Art Glass, Art Deco Opalescent Glass Figurines
French glassmaker, Marius-Ernest Sabino (1878-1961) was best known for designing and producing opalescent glass, including a great variety of figurine sculptures in this motif. Much of his work resembled that made by the great and popular Art Nouveau glass maker of the time, Rene Lalique. Sabino Glass made many art deco figurines designed this lustrous, opalescent glass motif, and was considered the best of those emulating Lalique's work. Nevertheless, Sabino crafted his own style and made some unique pieces that included figurines of slim, androgynous women, which contrasted the classical figures often used by Lalique.
