Galle Glass, Art Nouveau Glass, Galle Vase, Art Glass
One of the great French master glass makers was Emille Galle. Galle himself died in 1904, but his widow and others carried on his work until 1936 when all further production ceased. Thus, Galle Glass frequently brings premium pricing for authentic works. Watch out for fakes, since much of Galle's work was copied. Galle was a botanist, as well, and took many of his designs from nature - insects, flowers and the like. Among the more sought after Galle Glass pieces are those from the art nouveau period preceding World War I. Following the great war, Galle commenced producing Cameo glass, and many of those works of art are highly prized by collectors.
