Daum Art Glass, Art Nouveau, Crystal, Pate-de-verre Nouveau
The Franch glass maker, Daum Glass, was founded in 1878 and over the years produced exquisite art glass in a number of different designs depending on the era. They fall under these headings:
Art Nouveau: Commencing in 1891, Daum became a leader in the Art Nouveau movement as it applied to art glass, and used a number of special techniques to attain stunning effects. As times changed, art nouveau gave way to:
Art Deco: Daum adapted and continued producing excellent art deco glass after 1918.
Crystal: After WWII, Daum shifted into the making of lead crystal glass of the highest quality.
Pate-de-verre Nouveau: This was a reintroduction taking place after 1965, and involved famous sculptors, master glass artists and designers, among them Salvador Dali and Cesar.
